9:15 - 10:15 a.m. – Public Innovations & Efficiencies Cost-Cutting Competition
State of Iowa Auditor Rob Sand began the Public Innovations & Efficiencies (PIE) cost-cutting competition in 2019. Auditor Sand will discuss how the program works and the benefits of participating in this statewide program. Since its inception in 2019 city, county and schools have implemented various efficiency practices and shared those practices through this program. Learn how your community can be recognized for the cost savings efforts that have been adopted.

Jerika Pellington and Chet Eginoire of the Iowa Department of Revenue will give an overview

Generative artificial intelligence is here and it's going to impact all of our lives. In this session, Drake University professors Chris Porter, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Program, and Multimedia Professor Chris Snider will walk you through the capabilities of ChatGPT and similar tools. They will discuss ethical concerns, AI policies, and a framework for deciding how much AI should be used for various tasks.
